Purposeful days

What we do

We are not a day centre where people sit and wait for the day to pass. We plan the day around what people want to get better at, in our kitchen, art room and garden, and out in Telford.

An accessible community activity room ready for the day

Activity groups

Cooking and food

Planning a meal, shopping for it, cooking it and washing up after. It is one of the most useful skills anyone can take home.

Creative work

Painting, drawing, textiles and craft. Some people work towards something they want to sell or give as a present.

Community access

Cafes, shops, the library, the park and local places of interest. Using the community is the point, not a treat at the end of the week.

Wellbeing and movement

Walks, games, gardening and gentle exercise. We go at the pace of the person, not the group.

Skills for work

Timekeeping, working with other people, following a task through and handling money. Work experience placements can be arranged on request.

Practical things

Opening days and hours. Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. That is the whole offer at the moment.

Evenings and weekends. We are planning evening sessions from 4.30pm to 9pm and a weekend club. These are not running yet and you cannot book a place.

Transport. We have a car and a minibus. Transport can be arranged where it is included in your support plan or funding. We do not offer transport outside that. Ask us and we will talk it through.

Meals. We do not provide meals. Everyone brings their own food and drink, and we have a fridge and a microwave.

Your first visit

You come and look round first. There is no commitment and it costs nothing.

  1. You tell us you would like to visit, and we agree a day and a time.
  2. You look round with a member of the team, at your own pace, and stay as long as you like. Bring whoever you want with you.
  3. We talk about what you enjoy and what you want to get better at, and what a week might look like.
  4. We check what is funded and who pays, then agree a start date if you want one.
  5. Before your first day we go through the practical things, including consent for photographs, which is always your choice.

What we do not do

It is only fair to be clear about this, so nobody arrives expecting something we cannot give.

  • We do not provide personal care at the Hub. Help with washing, dressing or toileting is a different, regulated service.
  • We are not therapists. We do not provide speech and language therapy, occupational therapy or psychological therapy.
  • We do not provide treatment. We do not give medical care, and we do not diagnose anything.
  • We do not provide meals and we do not offer transport beyond what is in a support plan or funding.

If someone needs any of these, we will say so honestly and help you work out who does provide it.

You can see the day

Families and carers get a login to our own system, the Hub. You can see what happened in a session, look at photos where consent has been given, read progress towards goals and send a message to the team.

Nothing is shared with anyone who is not linked to the person, and a manager has to approve every link before it works.
